New Hospital Bed for MB
We have at last located a replacement, modern, hospital bed that will fit into the space available in Madam Butterfly and it was installed at the end of June 2019. This meets modern safety standards and should prove much more convenient for those who use it.
Old Thatch 16 June
Dawn visited Old Thatch, Winchfield, during their Open Garden Scheme event on 16 June to offer short trips for garden visitors to publicise and demonstrate the work of Accessible Boating.
Dawn Ready for New Season
Dawn has emerged from winter maintenance with a smartly-repainted interior. The new white ceiling makes the whole interior seem much lighter and the revarnished wood panels look very smart.
Great job by our dedicated maintenance volunteers.
Once again we were delighted to welcome both families with young children and also some of our summer passengers who joined us in collecting Santa from his magical Grotto for a short cruise along the canal followed by mince pies and a hot drink ashore.
Everyone seemed to have a great time and we look forward to running the same trips again for Christmas 2019.
We also hope that the publicity these trips have generated, both during the trips themselves and at the Odiham Christmas Extravaganza, will help us reach more of those with mobility and other dificulties who might enjoy a trip on the canal in one of our specially-equipped accessible boats.
Dawn was taken to the dry dock at Deepcut in November 2018 where her hull was cleaned and repainted and the rudder reseated. Our maintenance team will continue working on Dawn and Madam Butterfly in early 2019 to get them ready for another busy season.
